Bayern Munich forward Jamal Musiala has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a serious knee ligament injury during their recent match against Liverpool.
The 19-year-old German international was substituted off in the second half of the Champions League game at Anfield, having collided with Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk and sustained a significant injury to his left knee.
Musiala underwent surgery on Tuesday and is expected to be sidelined for several months, ruling him out of the rest of the Bundesliga campaign as well as any potential participation in the UEFA Champions League this season.
The Bayern Munich youngster had made a strong start to the season, scoring twice in two games before being injured. He had also been named in Germany's squad for Euro 2021,Campeonato Brasileiro Action but will now miss out on that tournament.
The news of Musiala's injury comes just days after he missed a crucial penalty shootout victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final, which meant Bayern lost the tie 4-3 on penalties.
