Kelvin was born on October 12, 1987, in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. He began his career at the age of 16, playing for the youth team of Santos F.C., one of the most successful football clubs in Brazil. Kelvin quickly established himself as a talented young player and was soon called up to play for the senior team.
In his first season with Santos, Kelvin made his debut in a friendly match against Juventude, scoring two goals in a 4-1 win. The following year, he made his professional debut in a Copa Libertadores match against América de Montevideo, earning a place in the starting lineup and contributing to a 1-0 victory.
In the 2005–06 season, Kelvin played a key role in Santos' title-winning campaign, helping the team to the Brazilian league championship and the Copa Libertadores final. In the final, Santos lost 2-1 to Boca Juniors, but Kelvin's performance was widely praised by fans and critics alike.
